 2023 Preview 


       Geneva County finished the 2022 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Geneva County just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 2A region two with a 2-5 region record.

       The Bulldogs lost as many games as in any season since 2015.

       Since 2010, Geneva County has gone a combined 71-69. Their 50.7% winning percentage ranks 25th in Class 2A over the past thirteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Geneva County has managed to compile a record of 130-138. Their 48.0% winning percentage ranks 29th in Class 2A and 213rd in the AHSAA.




       The Bulldogs are led by head coach Josh Thompson who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 3-7 record in his first season at Geneva County. The Bulldogs have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Thompson.

       The Bulldogs will need to win a few more games this fall if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region two this season.

       The Bulldogs open the 2023 season on the road against non-region opponent Luverne on Friday, September 1 at Glenn Daniel Stadium. Last year the Luverne Tigers finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in third place in Class 2A region three. The Tigers lost in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs to Vincent by a score of 36-35.

       Geneva County and Luverne have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Bulldogs have a 2-2-0 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2022 with Geneva County winning by a score of 14-7.
